The River Of Life

Once we find out what the river of life is; lets all gather at the river! Let us, for a moment, assume that the river of blessings that flows from the throne of God, to man, is the river of life. We know that the Holy Spirit can fill us to overflowing, but what does that mean?

Genesis 2:9-10 says: “And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. And a river went out of Eden to water the garden”

Psalm 1:1-3 says: “Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord: and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”

Jeremiah 2:13 God refers to Himself as “the fountain of living waters”

Jeremiah 17:13 refers to God as “the fountain of living waters”

Ezekiel 47:1-5 says: “Afterward he brought me again unto the door of the house; and, behold, waters issued out from under the threshold of the house eastward: for the forefront of the house stood toward the east, and the waters came down from under from the right side of the house, at the south side of the altar. Then brought he me out of the way of the gate northward, and led me about the way without unto the utter gate by the way that looks eastward; and, behold, there ran out waters on the right side. And when the man that had the line in his hand went forth eastward, he measured a thousand cubits, and he brought me through the waters; the waters were to the ankles. Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through the waters; the waters were to the knees. Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through; the waters were to the loins. Afterward he measured a thousand; and it was a river that I could not pass over: for the waters were risen, waters to swim in, a river that could not be passed over.”

Ezekiel 47:12 says: “And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow all trees for meat, whose leaf shall not fade, neither shall the fruit thereof be consumed: it shall bring forth new fruit according to his months, because their waters they issued out of the sanctuary: and the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine.” This river flowed from the top of a mountain and apparently had no source: except for the Lord.

Joel 3:18 says: “….a fountain shall come forth out of the house of the Lord, and shall water the valley of Shittim.”

Zechariah 14:8 says “And it shall be in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem….”

John 4:13-14 says: “Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinks of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.”

John 7:37-38 says: “In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.”
Revelation 7:17 says: “For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.”

Revelation 22:1-4 says: “And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve kinds of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him: And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads.”

In Ezekiel, we see that the water coming from the temple goes from ankle deep to a raging river. As we grow in the Word of God, the Spirit will deepen our experience with the Lord and we will overflow with His blessings.

Only by our acceptance of the gift of Salvation, given freely by God, who paid the price for the punishments we deserve, can we immerse ourselves in the river of blessings he has for us. Jesus promised that he would send the Holy Spirit, from the Father, to fill us to overflowing and give us all knowledge. We have been given the Word of God, to guide us into His will. We have been given the Holy Spirit, to guide us into all truth. We have been given the right to pray to the Father, in the name of Jesus, who stands interceding for us. What else can an all powerful and all loving God do? Now it’s up to us: He is the one who has given us the free will to chose Him or refuse Him. There is no middle ground. We are given the choice of eternal life or separation from the Lord forever. CHOOSE LIFE!a
