THE PEOPLES’ CHOICE

If we were to listen to the voice of the world today, we would believe that the unforgivable sin is offending others.  If we could only be sensitive enough to the feelings of others, what a glorious world this would be, or so they would have us think.  Who is the “they” that I speak of?  For the sake of simplicity, let’s call them the Politically Correct Police, the ones who are constantly at work in the job of defining for all the world what is, or is not, acceptable to say, think, hear, or do.  At one time, they may have been called Nazis, Fascists, Marxists, or any number of names given to those who think they can control the thinking of man for the primary purpose of removing all faith in the one true God of the Bible.  In reality, we know that the one behind it all is Satan, the Father of all lies.  He glories in endeavoring to indoctrinate all of mankind with the spirit of antichrist for the purpose of corrupting all of mankind.  He can not stand it when man gives all glory and honor unto God, for in his pride he wants to be worshipped in the place of God.  Satan has an arsenal of weapons which he diligently uses in his efforts to corrupt man.  Presently, among others, he is using this tool of political correctness to subvert, distract, and destroy man’s faith and trust in God.
I don’t see one law, not in God’s word or in the laws of man which guarantees the right not to be offended.  The PC police are presently scurrying hither and yon to establish such things as “safe places” where only that which is deemed to be politically correct and non-offensive to others may be spoken.  The main problem with that is that, in their efforts to define what is acceptable or not, they will not stop until the only place that it’s acceptable to speak about the gospel of Jesus Christ will be behind the closed doors of a church or synagogue, that is until they are able to remove even them.  This is nothing new.  It’s just another ploy of Satan’s, all dressed up in a different disguise, to deceive and confuse the people, God’s most precious creation whom He has made in His own image.
If you want to truly break the law of “thou shalt not offend anyone,” just speak these words: “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14: 6)  In the world’s idea of right and wrong, acceptable and condoned, those are words of hate, bigotry, and worst of all, exclusiveness.  Oh, they don’t mind if you talk about many gods (inclusiveness), for you see being inclusive of ALL things is just fine with them.  In fact to their way of thinking, the more the merrier for it helps to dispel and disparage any idea that there is only One True God.
Why else do you think that, especially in today’s world, you are more likely to hear the words “Jesus Christ” being used as a curse word instead of being revered and esteemed as holy and sacred?  Ah yes, use His name as a curse word, and you are not only esteemed as a cool dude, but you are also contributing to the process of desensitizing the minds of the people of the world to make them think that there is nothing special about Jesus or His name.  In so doing, they seek to destroy the belief that He is God come down in the form of man, but is rather no more than any other mere man, perhaps even a good man, but none the less, just a man.  They don’t mind if He is thought of as a good man, for then you may lump him together with others that the world has placed in the “good man” category such as Gandhi, or the Dalai Lama, or any other self proclaimed guru that rises up.  The fallacy in that kind of thinking is that there is no such thing as a “good man”, for all men have sinned and fallen short of the mark of righteousness, for only God is righteous and good.  Ah yes, implant the delusion that there are many paths to God in the mind and heart of any man, instead of the truth that salvation can only be found through faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and that man will have received the lie instead of the truth; thereby, he will have condemned his own soul to Hell to be separated from God for all eternity.
Yes, the PC police are very good at promoting the idea of “doing good unto others;” thereby replacing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the gospel of good deeds and Social Justice.  The principle of “doing good unto others” is a godly principle, but it was never meant to replace the Gospel of Jesus Christ, as it is more frequently doing in the realm of “the world of man,” apart from God.  Satan can never create anything new, but he just loves to make a counterfeit to pervert and distort the true principles created by God.  This can most effectually be observed within the church of today.  Many churches have become social clubs, bringing the community together to glory in their own efforts of doing good, instead of giving all the glory to God, our Creator, for all the things that He has done.  You may often hear the mantra of all that is needed to create a better world is for man to join together to feed the poor, take care of the widows and orphans, determine to touch the lives of others in a positive way, and leave the world a better place because of your efforts and influence to change the lives of others around you in a positive way.  This is evident in those who preach the false gospel and power of “positive thinking,” as if the thoughts of man are a replacement for the power of the word of God.  What foolishness!  I don’t deny that such an idea has value, for the idea itself is a godly principle that is espoused in the word of God.  However, it becomes perverted and distorted when it is presented as a goal in itself, apart from the power of God within man; it may have temporary value, but will never have eternal value.  It makes man the center of all things, giving all the glory and honor unto man, and ignoring the fact that doing good unto others was and is God’s plan for man in the first place.  “For we are God’s handiwork [made in His image], created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (Eph. 2: 10 NIV)   However, like Satan, we lift ourselves up in the pride of our own minds, becoming in our own eyes equal to or greater than God Himself.  Many churches these days are majoring in the gospel of social justice, but have declined to even strive towards a minor in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  When man exalts his own works above the works of Jesus Christ on the Cross and His ascension into Heaven, then the church has truly become the Laodicean Church of the latter days, “having a semblance of religion but lacking the power thereof,” (II Timothy 3: 5) meaning they act like they are religious but reject the One who gives the power to grow in the power and image of God.  In such churches, little is taught straight from the scriptures, except in bits and pieces, often distorting it to suit their own agendas.  The meaning of the word Laodicean is “the peoples’ choice.” Oh yes, we hear that word “choice” quite often today don’t we: a woman’s “choice” to abort her own baby; the peoples’ choice to decide his/her own gender in spite of biological specifics of male or female; the people’s choice to marry whom or whatever, regardless of God’s plan for marriage to be between one male and one female; the peoples’ “choice” to believe in many gods or no god at all.  Oh yes, the peoples’ choice to follow the desires of own hearts has always and forever led to our own destruction, but how quickly we forget that the peoples’ “choice” to forget God will also remove His blessings and protection over us.  Isn’t it ironic?  The peoples’ “choice” is, more often than not, to reject the only God who has promised to love and protect us; thereby, rejecting the ONLY path to Heaven?  It’s as if the PC police have redefined the word choice as being “good,” while the word God is redefined as “evil.”  Hmm, isn’t that rather confirming the truth of what the Bible has taught?  “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter.” (Isaiah 5: 20. More about this in II Tim. 3)  Isn’t it a crying shame when the people who are supposed to know God and all that He has and is doing, will exchange the truth and standards of God for the opinions of mere men.  The people of the world will always act and think like the world.  But God’s people have no excuse for acting like the rest of the world, for they have the truth of the word of God, but either they don’t bother to study and know the truth to live it out in their lives, or they knowingly and willfully choose to ignore its truth in order to purposely follow the rebellious desires of their own hearts.  That is where the true shame lies.  Yes, we are always going to sin and need to repent and seek God’s forgiveness for our frailty.  As long as we are in the flesh, we are in a spiritual battle between our old sin nature and our born again nature.  Knowingly and continually choosing to stay in sin without repenting, is a far worse state, for we have been taught and know better.  How can we be the salt and the light in the world if we continually live out our lives in opposition to the Lord, looking and behaving just like the rest of the world that knows not God?
Let us reject the lies of the gospel of social justice which has its foundations in the idea that man is able to earn salvation through his own intelligence and efforts.  Instead, turn back to the truth that salvation is a gift from the grace and mercy of God, a gift that can not be earned by the efforts of man.  No man can stand before a righteous God, for all of our righteousness is as filthy rags before Him.  We can be made right and acceptable unto God by believing in the power of the cleansing blood of Jesus Christ, shed for us upon the Cross as He took upon Himself all of the punishment for our sins.    Jesus was our substitute; He paid our sin debt in full.  “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.  The only righteousness that we have which makes us acceptable in the sight of God our Father is that which is imparted unto us from Jesus as a result of believing upon Him as Savior and Lord, and being born again in Him.  He places within us a new heart that has been pricked, (a heart of flesh and not of stone one which is rebellious and hardened against God) and His Holy Spirit comes to live within us.  It is He who has called us unto Himself, and it is He who leads and guides us into all truth, growing us up daily to become less of ourselves and more like unto Him.  The good works that we do thereafter are as a result of our love for God and a burning desire to do that which is pleasing unto Him.  Our good works are not done for our glory, but rather that we might be a blessing unto God and give Him all the praise, glory and honor.  We can’t even boast about our good works, neither would we want to.  Rather, we lay them at the feet of Jesus, “for it is He which worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure.” (Phlp. 2: 13)
Man is justified by his faith in God, not by his works, but by the works of the Lord Jesus Christ. We are to be schooled by the word of God that we may not be deceived by our own deceitful heart, our flesh or Satan.
“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.  And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.  Therefore God has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Phil. 2: 5-11)
For those who know Jesus as Savior and Lord, and those who may still be seeking to know Him, I implore, encourage, and strongly urge you to understand that there is a world of difference between knowing about Jesus and knowing Him in your heart as Savior and Lord of your life.  No amount of doing good deeds, thinking positive thoughts, or seeking after false gods is going to bring you into the Kingdom of God.  Salvation is found through one gate, one door, one good shepherd; all of whom are embodied within the person of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.  Be not deceived for there is no other gospel than the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  It is He alone that has loved us enough to give His very life that we may have eternal life through faith in Him.  The message of the true Gospel is that He was crucified and rose again, proving once and for all that He is who He said He is, Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
Wake up church!  Let us arise from our apathy and return once again to the newness of when we first loved Christ with passion and vigor.  Let us return to what it was like when His word and Spirit burned so bright within our hearts that it was impossible for us to keep His praises from rising up from deep within us.  Let His praises bubble forth from our heart and mouths like an unstoppable fountain of life.  Push back against the darkness of the world with all of its politically correct jargon.  Choose, when necessary, to offend men, but never to offend God.  Refuse to be intimidated, manipulated, or silenced by them.  Refuse to be indoctrinated by it or conformed to it.  Study the word that you may be transformed into the image of God by the hearing of His word, and by the power of His Holy Spirit.  Have we forgotten the truth and power of His word and Spirit?  “Greater is He who is in us than he that is in the world.” (I John 4: 4)  “For the word of God is quick [alive], and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword; piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Hebrews 4: 12)  Rise up in the boldness of the power of the Holy Spirit; let nothing and no one silence your voice to speak forth the truth of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.  The word tells us to give no place to the devil.  If we are intimidated and silenced, then we have given every place over to the devil!  Jesus has said, “But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I deny before my Father which is in Heaven.” (Matt. 10: 13)  Yes, we are being engulfed by the teachings of the Laodicean church of the latter days.
Remember, its main description it that it has the appearance of religion, but lacks the power of God, having put the “peoples’ choice,” that is the will of man, over and above the will of God.  And when they appear before the Lord’s judgment seat, because they trusted in their own works and not in the work of Jesus Christ on the Cross, they will try to claim: “Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’  Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’” (Matt. 7: 22, 23 NIV)
Again and again let us proclaim unto the whole world, there is no other gospel and there is no salvation except through Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God!!!  It is written:  “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12)  Salvation is through faith in Christ alone!!  He poured out His life for us; let us be willing to pour out our life, even unto death, for Him.
