My Conjecture About Some Biblical Miracles

After watching a TV program, on History Channel called "Proving God", I came to the conclusion that the "scientists" explanations of how God accomplished things differed from mine (and the Bible's).  Scientists tend to   look for natural explanations for miracles in the Bible, while forgetting that since God created everything, everything is natural.

A.      The first "miracle" discussed was the crossing of the Red Sea by the Hebrews.  Essentially the scientists said that a force of wind conditions could have separated the waters and a change in the winds could have let the water return.  One of the scientists said that Moses could have been a very good and lucky weather forecaster.  I find a couple of things to have been different than the scientific explanations.

1.  God told Moses to hold up the stick in his hand and the sea did its thing.  God, not a wind did it; although God could have used His wind and His waves to control things like Jesus did in Luke 8:22-25: "Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his disciples: and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth.  But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy.  And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm. And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commands even the winds and water, and they obey him."

2. The Hebrews crossed on dry ground.  Exodus 14:16 says: "  But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea."  That would have taken quite a while for the wind to have dried out the muddy sea bed.  Since the wind couldn't have dried out the sea bed, the Egyptians couldn't have followed the Hebrews across the sea bed as their chariots would have sunk in the mud. God dried out the sea bed, as He had His own plans for the Egyptian army.  The scientists called this a bohr wave caused by a wind set down.

As we can see, it was Moses and God who accomplished this miracle; not Charlton Heston and Cecil B. DeMille.

B.      Another example of Jumping off into the scientific deep end, would be the search for the "Ark of the Covenant".  Instead of starting off on a biblical adventure, one should glean all the information possible from he original source. It is my contention that the Bible tells us exactly where the "Ark" is.  Revelation 11:19 states : " And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament:"  Current scientific thinking is that the Ark is buried somewhere in Jerusalem or perhaps in Ethiopia (because the Jews there have blood sacrifices).

C.      The scientists have discovered what they call the "God gene" in our DNA.  "The God gene hypothesis proposes that a specific gene (VMAT2) predisposes humans towards spiritual or mystic experiences. The idea has been postulated by geneticist Dean Hamer, the director of the Gene Structure and Regulation Unit at the U.S. National Cancer Institute, and author of the 2005 book The God Gene: How Faith is Hardwired into our Genes." (Wikipedia)  The scientists conjecture that religion is the result of  environment while spirituality has very little environmental component.  The supposition is that the God gene determines the amount of your spirituality, whereas the Bible says it is your relationship with the Lord.  One of the scientists said the Moses experience with the burning bush could have been God talking with Moses or the result of Moses eating a bad mushroom.  I have to ask if Moses ate the same kind of mushrooms every time he went up on the mountain.

D.   Dr. Andrew Newberg, director o research of integrated medicine at Thomas Jefferson University, has found that the parietal lobe in the brain, in essence, quiets down  when someone prays.  Perhaps this phenomenon is what happens when we humble ourselves and turn ourselves completely over to God's will, and are enabled to speak or pray in tongues or prophesy.   Dr. Newberg calls this mentally loosing track of their surroundings or becoming one with the universe.

Some say that science and the Bible are not compatible. I present the following list of scientists as proof that science is completely compatible with God and the Bible.  All of the major disciplines of  science were invented by Christian men who believed in the Bible.  This list was compiled by the late G. James Kennedy.

Francis Bacon was the inventor of the scientific method.

Joseph Lister – Antiseptic Surgery

Louis Pasteur = bacteriology

Sir Isaac Newton – Calculus

Johann Kepler – Celestial Mechanics

Robert Boyle – Chemistry

Georges Cuvier – Comparative Anatomy

Charles Babbahe – Computer Science

Lord Rayleigh – Dimensional Analysis

Sir Isaac Newton – Dynamics

James Clark Maxwell – Electrodynamics

Michael Faraday – Electromagnetics

Ambrose Fleming – Electronics

Lord Kelvin – Energetics

Henri Fabre – Entomology of Living Insects

Michael Faraday – Field Theory

George Stokes – Fluid Mechanics

William Herschel – Galactic Astronomy

Robert Boyle – Gas Dynamics

Gregor Mendel – Genetics

Louis Agassiz – Glacial Geology

James Simpson – Gynecology

Leonardo Da Vinci – Hydrolics

Matthew Maury – Hydrography

Blaise Pascal –Hydrostatics

Louis Adassiz – Ichthyologl

William Ramsay – Isotropic Chemistry

Lord Rayleigh – Model Analysis

John Ray – Natural History

Bernhard Riemann – Non-Euclidean Geometry

Matthew Maury – Oceanography

David Brewster – Optical Mineralogy

John Woodward – Paleontology

Rudolph Vichow – Pathology

Johann Kepler – Physical Astronomy

James Joule = Reversible Thermodynamics

James Clark Maxwell – Statistical Thermodynamics

Nicholas Steno – Stratigraphy

Carolus Linnaeus – Systematic Biology

Lord Kelvin – Thermodynamics

Humphrey Davy – Thermokinetics

Georges Cuvier – Vertebrate Paleontology

Each of these men believed in the Creation as described in the Bible and the saving power of Jesus the Christ.  These are serious scientific disciplines with documented proof.  They are not unscientific guessing like evolution, that has no scientific proof to back it up.
