The Infection of The United States


          Just as God didn’t want Israel infected by the false gods of the nations, He doesn’t want the US infected by other gods.  The U.S. was established as a Christian nation, in the same way He established Israel as a Hebrew nation.  The One True and Living God, the Lord God of Israel, set these nations up as His.

          The freedom of religion in the First Amendment meant the freedom of the denominations of Christianity and Judaism.  Loving thy neighbor meant thy neighbor in the Lord.  The heathen people, although tolerated, were not considered equal in importance because they would be a corrupting influence, in the same way the heathen nations around Israel corrupted the Hebrew people.

          The infection of progressivism in our country has gone essentially untreated since the 1920's.  A patchwork of constitutional, Christian movements has had little or no effect.  The moral degeneration of the country has shocked each succeeding generation as it matured into responsible life, such as marriage and raising children. 

          The essential difference between conservatives and progressives is that conservatives wish to maintain the Christian values and constitutional rights which this country was founded on, while progressives believe the Christian values are too restrictive and the  constitution should be changed to reflect the changes in the human understanding.  A man is right in his own eyes.  The differences in the political parties is not the root cause of our downfall: it is the secularization of our nation which seeks to remove God from His rightful place.

          When we compare the political stances of the liberal vs. conservative camps, over the past 60 years where I have been aware of the differences, we can see a dramatic shift to the left which is reflected in all political movements.  If this paradigm shift had been to the right, to the same extent, it would have been just as disastrous.  The Pharisees,  are the example in the Bible, where we can see that the doctrines of men were presented as more important than the doctrines of God.   The secularization of  the nation has brought about increasing lawlessness, wickedness and godlessness.  The line on the left has shifted so far to the left that traditional democrats can hardly recognize their party.  The line on the right has shifted so far left that the true conservatives stare in unbelief at their republican representatives lack of traditional values.  President Jack Kennedy is an excellent example of this change in mindset.  He was considered a liberal when he was president; however, when comparing his views today we see that by today's standards he is actually a borderline conservative,  This is why he is not touted, by the democrat party, as a great president.  His social and economic positions were far superior to today's progressives.  Another example of degeneration is the gang mentality in our cities.  These gang values are basically the ancient tribal values seen thousands of years ago in the Philistine, Moabite, and Canaanite tribes where only the values of their particular tribe are held as having any value at all.  Their societies were centered around false gods just as we see today's gangs are.  Other societies carried no credibility or respect for them.  In other words, they had no respect for anyone but themselves.

          The moral degeneration has possibly been the most heinous aspect pf our country's decline.  If you had told the founders of this country that we would approve of abortion on demand, same sex marriage and the promiscuous sexual practices of today, they would have laughed in our faces.  Their view of today's abandonment of the countries religious practices and values would have been utterly abhorrent to them.  The dumbing down of our educational system and misrepresentation of our true history would never have been acceptable.  The education system, set up by our founders, was for the purpose of teaching children to read the Bible and educating ministers for the spreading of the Gospel. 

          Even the most blatant sinners, among our founding fathers, knew the difference between the satanic and the Godly powers at work in the world.  The apparent lack of this knowledge today is simply the lack of a proper education.  The lack of the acknowledgement, of the two essential power forces at work in the world, is simply a result of a corrupted educational system and rebellion against the Creator of the universe. 

          There is a cure for the degeneration of our country, however, in all probability it will not happen.  The Bible describes, in great detail, what will happen in the end times of this age.  The problem is that most of the world is to biblically illiterate to recognize the signs.  Without a will and desire for a revival of Godly values and a desire for true repentance we will continue down the same road on which we are headed.

          Many of my Christian brothers and sisters fall into a spiritual funk at times. We often forget that God provided us with the most Christian nation in the history of the world. Our blessings are many, but with blessing comes responsibility.  There is but one cure for the disease of progressive secularism - "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." (2 Chronicles 7:14)

Believing The Lie




          The Bible tells us that in the end time there will be great deceit, delusion and deception; even if possible to the point of deceiving the elect.  What is the "lie" the Bible is talking about.  The most heinous lie, and the most damaging to mankind, is that there is more than one way to Heaven.  Regardless of what garbage is slung around in the world, there is only one salvation; and that is through Jesus.

          The Bible tells us that in the end time, there will be a falling away from the truth (2 Thessalonians 2:3).   Romans 16:17-19 says to "mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.  For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the uneducated. For your obedience is come abroad unto all men. I am glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil."  2 Timothy 4:3 says: "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;"

False Teaching

Galatians 1:8 "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed."

2 Corinthians 11:3-4  "But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtlety, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that comes preaching another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him."

Matthew 24:24  "For there shall arise false Christ's, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect."

Atheism

"Today’s “new atheists” seek to deprive you of your belief system in order to elevate their own.  Atheists believe in mans’ superiority, rather than the superiority of God.  “A man says, in his heart, there is no God.” (Psalm 14:1, Psalm 10:4)  “A man is right in his own eyes.” (Proverbs 21:2, Proverbs 28:11)  An evolutionary atheist is a person who uses the gifts God has given him to prove there is no God.  Today’s “new Atheists” not only consider you less intelligent than they are, but also consider you their enemy.  They have forgotten that they were only allowed to exist in our country because of the tolerance of our Christian nation."("Atheism", Rick Rahn, www.thespiritsnestministries.com)
Dave Muscato, communications director, American Atheists says.......

1. "Christmas is better without Christ"

2. "Thanksgiving is a secular holiday and has nothing to do with religion."

Does he realize that Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Christ?  Does he know that the purpose of  thanksgiving is to give thanks to the Lord?    "If there were no God, you couldn't be an atheist." (Gary Stearman)  Atheists must believe in God or they wouldn't have anything to be against.

 
Apostate church

 "The following are some of the things to look out for:

1.  The sign of the cross being removed from the interior and exterior of the church building.

2.  Music so loud that it can be ‘felt’.  Its purpose becomes more centered on promoting a ‘feeling’ rather than worship.

3.  “New” translations of the Bible are in use, which vary greatly from the accepted translations. “The Message” was written by Eugene Paterson who himself says, it should not be considered the word of God, and urges that it not be used in formal worship services.

4.  There are many paths to Heaven. This is known as Universalism, Syncretism, or Interfaithism.

5.  Social justice, the new code word for income redistribution. Much to the chagrin of some, Jesus was not a communist.

6.  Making the church look like a night club.

7.  Using the phrases churched and unchurched instead of saved and unsaved.  A watering down of the Gospel, such as not talking about sin.

8.  Basing your faith on experience, and or spirit guides, rather than doctrine.

9.  Replacement theology, which is the belief that the Christians have replaced the Jews, in the covenants.

10. Adding to, or detracting from, The Word of God.  Books like 'The Book of Mormon’.  If someone tells you to read the Bible less and their book more, be very skeptical.

11. Denying the virgin birth.

12. Denying the bodily resurrection of Jesus

13. Denying the inerrancy of the Bible.

14. Denying the Lordship of Jesus.

15. Denying that the Trinity is the one true and living God.

16.  Using wrong names for God.  Example: Allah is not the name of the God of the Bible.  Jehovah is not the same thing as Allah. God’s name is the name above all names, not Allah, Buddha, Mohamed, mother  nature, mother earth or any other name concocted by man. 

17. Attempts to combine religions.  Example: Chrislam, which attempts to say that ‘Allah’ and ‘God the Father’ are the same personage.  It denies the trinity of God, and the lordship of Jesus.

18. The teaching of evolution. The New Age manuscripts worship the creation rather than the creator.  ‘Pantheism’ is the assertion that God is ‘in’ all things; again, the worship of the creation.

19. A serious red flag is known as “Conplemplative Prayer” which is nothing more or less than “Eastern Meditation” (Matthew 6:7)

20. The assertion that there is no Hell and that everyone is going to Heaven.

Abomination

"Webster’s dictionary defines the word 'abomination' as a 'loathsome or disgusting act.'  This serves as an adequate biblical definition as well, for when the bible mentions something as an 'abomination' it means 'an act which is loathsome or disgusting in the eyes of God.' " (http://www.raptureready.com/featured/gillette/bg28.html)  The worship of false gods, abortion (sacrificing children), the practice of homosexuality, witchcraft,  false teaching, the evil-minded person, a false balance, the sacrifices of the wicked, the thoughts of the wicked, the justification of the wicked and the condemnation of the just, a proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked imaginations, feet that are swift in running to mischief, a false witness, blasphemy of the Holy Spirit and one who sows discord among brethren are all described as abominations in the Bible.  1 Corinthians 6:9-10 says: "Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,  Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God."   Romans 1:26-32 says: "For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet.  And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;  Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,  Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them."  All of these are forgivable sins, except for the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. 

Worship of false gods

          I found a web site that listed 4980 different false gods, from the Bible and throughout the history of the world. (http://www.landoverbaptist.net/showthread.php?t=93242)  Suffice it to say that anything that replaces God in your life is your false god.  "All people are religious in one way or another.  Christians worship the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit who is the One True and Living God.  Other, misguided people, worship false gods like, Allah, Buddha, Baal and Secular Humanism.  There are others who worship the creation, rather than the Creator.  There are some who don’t know what they believe and still others who have set themselves as god in their own minds." LGBT

LGBT "The relationship between religion and lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people can vary greatly across time and place, within and between different religions and sects, and regarding different forms of homosexuality, bisexuality, and transgenderism.

Some of the authoritative bodies and doctrines of the world's largest religions may view these negatively. Resurgence of ancient pagan worship.

The Host of Heaven

"Host of heaven has two basic meanings depending on the context..

1 Heavenly Bodies = stars - as created things and/or as objects of idolatry

2 Heavenly Beings = angels or spirit beings

The first Scriptural use of 'Host of Heaven' is found in Deut 4:19

Deut 4:19 'And beware not to lift up your eyes to heaven and see the sun and the moon and the stars, all the host of heaven, and be drawn away and worship them and serve them (note the progressive decline in the preceding verbs), those which the LORD your God has allotted to all the peoples under the whole heaven.'

Morris commenting on this passage writes that...

The pagan nations of Canaan, as well as Egypt and the other nations of antiquity, had once known the true God of creation but had long since become evolutionary pantheists, worshipping the creation instead of the Creator. The children of Israel were repeatedly warned against this influence but repeatedly succumbed to it in later years--just as have people in every age. The first of the ten commandments, 'Thou shalt have no other gods before me' (Exodus 20:3) was given explicitly to guard against this ever-present Satanic temptation. Jeremiah records that despite God's clear warning not to worship the host of heaven they disobeyed...

'And the houses of Jerusalem and the houses of the kings of Judah will be defiled like the place Topheth, because of all the houses on whose rooftops (flat roofs of the houses were used for worshiping astral deities) they burned sacrifices to all the heavenly host and poured out libations to other gods.' (Jer 19:13)

In summary the first Scriptural use of the phrase host of heaven is a warning to Israel not to exchange worship of the Creator for the worship of the creation that included the host of heaven." (http://www.preceptaustin.org/hosts_of_heaven.htm)  

          Throughout the Bible, when people are confronted by angels, the tendency is to bow down and worship them.  Each time this happens, the angel tells the person not to, because they are servants just like them.

Queen of Heaven

Jeremiah 7:18  "The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger."

Jeremiah 44:18  "But since we left off to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine."

Jeremiah 44:19  "And when we burned incense to the queen of heaven, and poured out drink offerings unto her, did we make her cakes to worship her, and pour out drink offerings unto her, without our men?"

Jeremiah 44:25  "Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, saying; Ye and your wives have both spoken with your mouths, and fulfilled with your hand, saying, We will surely perform our vows that we have vowed, to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her: ye will surely accomplish your vows, and surely perform your vows."

CUUPS

Permaculture

"Permaculture is a philosophy of working with, rather than against nature; of protracted and thoughtful observation rather than protracted and thoughtless labor; and of looking at plants and animals in all their functions, rather than treating any area as a single product system."-Bill Mollison (Wikipedia)  Romans 1:25 says: "They changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever".

Witchcraft and Sorcery

1 Samuel 15:23  "For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, he hath also rejected thee from being king."

2 Kings 9:22  "And it came to pass, when Joram saw Jehu, that he said, Is it peace, Jehu? And he answered, What peace, so long as the whoredoms of thy mother Jezebel and her witchcrafts are so many?"

2 Chronicles 33:6  "And he caused his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom: also he observed times, and used enchantments, and used witchcraft, and dealt with a familiar spirit, and with wizards: he wrought much evil in the sight of the Lord, to provoke him to anger."

Micah 5:12  "And I will cut off witchcrafts out of your hand; and you shall have no more soothsayers:"

Nahum 3:4  "Because of the multitude of the whoredoms of the well-favored harlot, the mistress of witchcrafts, that sells nations through her whoredoms, and families through her witchcrafts."

Galatians 5:19-21  "Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,  Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God."

Acts 8:9 "But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one."

          The groups and mislead people, mentioned above, don't seem to realize that they are not hated by Christians.  Our duty, assigned by God, is to love everyone regardless of their beliefs and practices.  The Bible tells us we never know who will come to the truth. "You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.” (free from the curse of sin and death). (John 8:32)   The Secular world, by political correctness, has distorted the definition of tolerance.  Tolerance now asserts that one must not only make allowances for differences in others but also accept and condone their behavior and beliefs as being acceptable, thus taking away the freedom to disagree without being labeled as bigots and haters.  There are, however, things that, according to the Word of God, should not be tolerated.

 

          What I'm going to say now is going to upset those who have not accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior.  If you have heard about Jesus, and not accepted his gift of Salvation, don't you dare ask about all those people who haven't heard about Jesus.  There are many unsaved people who use the argument that God shouldn't send people to Hell who haven't been told about the gospel.  If you haven't been Born Again, you need to get right with God and go out and tell all those people who haven't been told yet.  All creation displays and testifies to the existence of God.  Romans 1:18-20 says: "For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath showed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:"  John 1:1-2 tells us that "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God."  The name we know Him by is Jesus.

 

          As the time grows closer, to the end of this age, we need to know what we are going to be faced with; because "My people are destroyed for the lack of knowledge"(Hosea 4:6) and knowledge is power.  "The fear (respect)  of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction."(Proverbs 1:7)   The Bible gives us all the knowledge we need to see us through the most difficult of times.  Being like minded with Christ, through the Word (In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God, (John 1:1)), will guard us from Believing The Lie.

Extra-Biblical Evidence About Jesus


          How many times, throughout history, have the historians been eyewitnesses to the events they wrote about?  Many times the writers are not present at the events, but rather depend on the best sources available to gather their information.  The author must gather all of the creditable information he can, and correlate that information to give an educated compilation.  The Bible contains first hand, eyewitness accounts of Jesus' life, death and resurrection; however, there are those who require additional information from sources not directly associated with the Bible. 

 

          "Too many people think that in order for the New Testament to have any validity it needs to be confirmed by writings outside the New Testament.  This is because people still think that the New Testament is a single book, and to use the New Testament to validate the New Testament is arguing in a circle. This is simply not true. The New Testament isn’t a single book. It is a collection of independently written documents written by people living during the first century.  The documents that were considered the most reliable, for reasons including but not limited to their early date, were kept and read in the church.  Eventually the church collected these documents and put them under one cover, calling it the “New Testament.” So when people demand to have evidence for Jesus outside the Bible, they are demanding that the earliest, most reliable sources be discarded in favor of later, less reliable sources.  Such a methodology would be considered crazy if we were investigating the life of any other historical figure. Nevertheless, when Christians are pressed to find extra-Biblical evidence for Jesus, they are very quick to throw out the Bible on request in favor of the writings of Josephus or Tacitus. Flavius Josephus (37-97 AD), court historian for Emperor Vespasian: "At this time there was a wise man who was called Jesus. And his conduct was good and he was known to be virtuous. And many people from among the Jews and other nations became his disciples. Pilate condemned him to be crucified and to die. And those who had become his disciples did not abandon his discipleship. They reported that he had appeared to them three days after his crucifixion and that he was alive; accordingly, he was perhaps the messiah concerning whom the prophets have recounted wonders." F. F. Bruce has provided a more likely translation:

Now there arose at this time a source of further trouble in one Jesus, a wise man who performed surprising works, a teacher of men who gladly welcome strange things.  Antiquities of the Jews’ which Josephus wrote in 93AD  About this time came Jesus, a wise man, if indeed it is appropriate to call him a man. For he was a performer of paradoxical feats, a teacher of people who accept the unusual with pleasure, and he won over many of the Jews and also many Greeks. He was the Christ. When Pilate, upon the accusation of the first men amongst us, condemned him to be crucified, those who had formerly loved him did not cease [to follow him], for he appeared to them on the third day, living again, as the divine prophets foretold, along with a myriad of other marvelous things concerning him. And the tribe of the Christians, so named after him, has not disappeared to this dayJosephus’ statement about Jesus is the most direct, non-Biblical, non-Christian source we have for Jesus and it shouldn’t be dismissed simply because some Christians interpolated it. Besides, this is not the only time Josephus mentions Jesus in his writing. In Book 20, Chapter 9 he makes an off the cuff comment about “…the brother of Jesus, who was called Christ, whose name was James.” He also said a lot about Jesus’ cousin, “John, that was called the Baptist.”.  But wait there's more! Tacitus (circa A.D. 55 - A.D. 117)  Annals, book XV:

Consequently, to get rid of the report, Nero fastened the guilt and inflicted the most exquisite tortures on a class hated for their abominations, called Christians by the populace. Christus (Christ), from whom the name had its origin, suffered the extreme penalty during the reign of Tiberius at the hands of one of our procurators, Pontius Pilatus, and a most mischievous superstition, thus checked for the moment, again broke out not only in Judea, the first source of the evil, but even in Rome, where all things hideous and shameful from every part of the world find their centre and become popular.

 

Ignatius according to tradition was a pupil of the Apostle John. He is said to be the second bishop of Antioch after Peter and he lived between 50-115 A.D. Ignatius also died a martyr for his faith and belief in the resurrection. (This can be verified in "Fox's book of martyrs", pg.7-8. "Evidence", by Josh McDowell pg.185, "American Peoples Encyclopedia", Vol.10,pg.895)

The following is a quote by Ignatius, which is found  in Ante-Nicene Fathers: Volume. I, Roberts, Alexander and Donaldson, James, The Epistle of Ignatius to the Trallians Ch. 9. "Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who was descended from David, and was also of Mary; who was truly begotten of God and of the Virgin, but not after the same manner. Polycarp is also said to have been a  disciple under Saint John. Polycarp was bishop of Smyrna and lived from 69-155 A.D. He also died a martyr for his faith. The Jewish Talmud, compiled between 70 and 200 AD:

"On the eve of the Passover Yeshu (Jesus) was hanged. For forty days before the execution took place, a herald went forth and cried, 'He is going forth to be stoned because he has practiced sorcery and enticed Israel to apostasy. Anyone who can say anything in his favor, let him come forward and plead on his behalf.' But since nothing was brought forward in his favor he was hanged on the eve of the Passover." Another early reference in the Talmud speaks of five of Jesus' disciples and recounts their standing before judges who make individual decisions about each one, deciding that they should be executed. However, no actual deaths are recorded. The Talmud also refers, several times, to things in the New Testament (Everyman's Talmud, Cohen).

Mara Bar-Serapion, of Syria, writing between 70 and 200 AD from prison to motivate his son to emulate wise teachers of the past:

"What advantage did the Athenians gain from putting Socrates to death? Famine and plague came upon them as a judgment for their crime. What advantage did the men of Samos gain from burying Pythagoras? In a moment their land was covered with sand. What advantage did the Jews gain from executing their wise king? It was just after that that their kingdom was abolished. God justly avenged these three wise men: the Athenians died of hunger; the Samians were overwhelmed by the sea; the Jews, ruined and driven from their land, live in complete dispersion. But Socrates did not die for good; he lived on in the teaching of Plato. Pythagoras did not die for good; he lived on in the statue of Hera. Nor did the wise king die for good; he lived on in the teaching which he had given."

Emperor Hadrian (117-138 AD), in a letter to Minucius Fundanus, the Asian proconsul:

"I do not wish, therefore, that the matter should be passed by without examination, so that these men may neither be harassed, nor opportunity of malicious proceedings be offered to informers. If, therefore, the provincials can clearly evince their charges against the Christians, so as to answer before the tribunal, let them pursue this course only, but not by mere petitions, and mere outcries against the Christians. For it is far more proper, if anyone would bring an accusation, that you should examine it." Hadrian further explained that if Christians were found guilty they should be judged "according to the heinousness of the crime." If the accusers were only slandering the believers, then those who inaccurately made the charges were to be punished.

Gaius Suetonius Tranquillas, chief secretary of Emperor Hadrian (117-138 AD): "Because the Jews of Rome caused continuous disturbances at the instigation of Chrestus, [Claudius] expelled them from the city."

"After the great fire at Rome [during Nero's reign] ... Punishments were also inflicted on the Christians, a sect professing a new and mischievous religious belief."

Justin Martyr was a Christian writer who lived during 100-165 A.D. The following two quotes are his statements. "And
that it was predicted that our Christ should heal all diseases and raise the dead, hear what was said. There are these words:
"At His coming the lame shall leap as an hart, and the tongue of the stammerer shall be clear speaking: the blind shall see, and
the lepers shall be cleansed; and the dead shall rise, and walk about." And that He did those things, you can learn from the
Acts of Pontius Pilate."

"Jesus Christ stretched forth His hands, being crucified by the Jews speaking against Him, and denying that He was the Christ.
And as the prophet spoke, they tormented Him, and set Him on the judgment-seat, and said, Judge us. And the expression,
"They pierced my hands and my feet," was used in reference to the nails of the cross which were fixed in His hands and feet.
And after He was crucified they cast lots upon His vesture, and they that crucified Him parted it among them. And that these

Justin here was appealing to "the Acts of Pontius Pilate" to his readers. Justin apparently believed the critics could verify these
things as actual events in this document. We can also see that Justin assumed his readers would know of the document he
was referring to. It should be noted here that there is no known manuscript found, which contains the Acts of Pontius Pilate.
Also this should not be confused with later fabrications by the same name. It is not known who wrote this document that Justin
refers to. Gary Habermas in his book "The Historical Jesus", pg.215-217  states that both Justin Martyr and Tertullian agree
that this was an official document of Rome.

Pliny the Younger, Roman governor of Bithynia in Asia Minor around 112 AD:

"[The Christians] were in the habit of meeting on a certain fixed day before it was light, when they sang in alternate verses a hymn to Christ, as to a god, and bound themselves by a solemn oath, not to any wicked deeds, but never to commit any fraud, theft or adultery, never to falsify their word, nor deny a trust when they should be called upon to deliver it up; after which it was their custom to separate, and then reassemble to partake of food--but food of an ordinary and innocent kind." Pliny added that Christianity attracted persons of all societal ranks, all ages, both sexes, and from both the city and the country. Late in his letter to Emperor Trajan, Pliny refers to the teachings of Jesus and his followers as excessive and contagious superstition.

Emperor Trajan, in reply to Pliny:

"The method you have pursued, my dear Pliny, in sifting the cases of those denounced to you as Christians is extremely proper. It is not possible to lay down any general rule which can be applied as the fixed standard in all cases of this nature. No search should be made for these people; when they are denounced and found guilty they must be punished; with the restriction, however, that when the party denies himself to be a Christian, and shall give proof that he is not (that is, by adoring our gods) he shall be pardoned on the ground of repentance, even though he may have formerly incurred suspicion. Information's without the accuser's name subscribed must not be admitted in evidence against anyone, as it is introducing a very dangerous precedent, and by no means agreeable to the spirit of the age."

Lucian, a second century Greek satirist AD 125 – after AD 180 :  

Though Lucian opposed Christianity, he acknowledges Jesus, that Jesus was crucified, that Christians worship him, and that this was done by faith.

"The Christians, you know, worship a man to this day--the distinguished personage who introduced their novel rites, and was crucified on that account. ... You see, these misguided creatures start with the general conviction that they are immortal for all time, which explains the contempt of death and voluntary self-devotion which are so common among them; and then it was impressed on them by their original lawgiver that they are all brothers, from the moment that they are converted, and deny the gods of Greece, and worship the crucified sage, and live after his laws. All this they take quite on faith, with the result that they despise all worldly goods alike, regarding them merely as common property." Lucian also reported that the Christians had "sacred writings" which were frequently read. When something affected them, "they spare no trouble, no expense."

Julius Africanus, writing around 221 AD, found a reference in the writings of Thallus, who wrote a history of the Eastern Mediterranean around 52 AD, which dealt with the darkness that covered the land during Jesus' crucifixion:

"Thallus, in the third book of his histories, explains away the darkness as an eclipse of the sun--unreasonably, as it seems to me." [A solar eclipse could not take place during a full moon, as was the case during Passover season  refers to writings by Thallus and Phlegon concerning the darkness during the Crucifixion: On the whole world there pressed a most fearful darkness; and the rocks were rent by an earthquake, and many places in Judea and other districts were thrown down. This darkness Thallus, in the third book of his History, calls, as appears to me without reason, an eclipse of the sun...Phlegon records that, in the time of Tiberius Caesar, at full moon, there was a full eclipse of the sun from the sixth hour to the ninth - manifestly that one of which we speak.

The Gospel of Truth, probably by Valentius, around 135-160 AD:

"For when they had seen him and had heard him, he granted them to taste him and to smell him and to touch the beloved Son. When he had appeared instructing them about the Father. ... For he came by means of fleshly appearance." Other passages affirm that the Son of God came in the flesh and "the Word came into the midst. ... it became a body."

The Treatise On Resurrection, by uncertain author of the late second century, to Rheginos:

"The Lord ... existed in flesh and ... revealed himself as Son of God ... Now the Son of God, Rheginos, was Son of Man. He embraced them both, possessing the humanity and the divinity, so that on the one hand he might vanquish death through his being Son of God, and that on the other through the Son of Man the restoration to the Pleroma might occur; because he was originally from above, a seed of the Truth, before this structure of the cosmos had come into being."  "For we have known the Son of Man, and we have believed that he rose from among the dead. This is he of whom we say, 'He became the destruction of death, as he is a great one in whom they believe.' Great are those who believe."  "The Savior swallowed up death. ... This inscription is fascinating on many levels, but what makes it the #2 biblical discovery in archaeology is the way one of the kings is described. The Aramaean king refers to the kingdom of Judah by its dynastic name, a name frequently used in the Hebrew Bible as well: the House of David. This not only indicates that the family of David still sat on the throne of Jerusalem, but this inscription represents the oldest textual reference to the historical King David ever discovered! The Pilot stone



In 1961 the archaeological world was taken back to the first century Roman province of Judea. A group of archaeologists, led by Dr. Antonio Frova were excavating an ancient Roman theater near Caesarea Maritima. Caesarea was a leading city in the first century located on the Mediterranean Sea. A limestone block was found there with a surprising inscription. The inscription, on three lines, reads:

…]S TIBERIVM PON]TIVS PILATVS PRAEF]ECTVS IVDA“Pontius[EA] “Pontius Pilate, Prefect of Judea.”

The Jesus Boat



The boat was found near the Sea of Galilee in 1985-86 when two brothers discovered something remarkable in the mud. The find was the first of its kind and dated back to between 120 B.C. and 40 A.D. There in the mud were the remnants of a fishing boat some 30 feet in length. A recent drought had the water level well below normal, allowing the boat to be seen by man for the first time in almost 2,000 years. "The historicity of Jesus concerns the analysis of historical evidence to determine if Jesus of Nazareth existed as a historical figure, and if any of the major milestones in his life as portrayed in the gospels can be confirmed as historical events, as opposed to the Christ myth theory, which holds that he is a fictional figure. The related study of the historical Jesus attempts to reconstruct portraits of his life and teachings, based on methods such as biblical criticism of gospel texts and the history of first century Judea.

Most modern scholars of antiquity agree that Jesus existed, but scholars differ on the historicity of specific episodes described in the Biblical accounts of Jesus,[5] and the only two events subject to "almost universal assent" are that Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist and was crucified by the order of the Roman Prefect Pontius Pilate. Biblical scholars and classical historians regard theories of his non-existence as effectively refuted. Most scholars agree that Jesus was a Galilean Jew who was born between 7 and 4 BC, in the closing stages of the reign of King Herod and died 30–36 AD, that he lived in Galilee and Judea, did not preach or study elsewhere, and that he spoke Aramaic and perhaps also Hebrew and maybe Greek.

Since the 18th century a number of quests for the historical Jesus have taken place, and historical critical methods for studying the historicity of Jesus have been developed. Various Christian and non-Christian sources are used to study and establish the historicity of Jesus, e.g. Jewish sources such as Josephus, and Roman sources such as Tacitus. These sources are compared and contrasted to Christian sources such as the Pauline Letters and the Synoptic Gospels. Further non-Biblical evidence to show that Christians were recognized as those who worshipped Jesus is seen in some first century Pagan graffiti, which attempts to ridicule Christians by depicting a believer worshipping a horse type headed god on a cross:

          As is evident from the above, there is no doubt that Jesus both existed and fulfilled the Old Testament prophesies about Him.  There are over sixty prophecies, and over three hundred references, in the Old Testament which point to the coming Messiah and to His life and death.  Jesus Christ perfectly fulfilled every one of them.  The odds of someone doing that, who was not the Messiah, make it impossible.  It was through the fulfillment of these prophecies that Israel was told she would be able to recognize the true Messiah when He came.  The four gospels record several times when Jesus said that He was fulfilling a prophecy of the Old Testament.
